The Synod's mission is not to enter into theological debates on history or theology, but to give pastoral guidelines for evangelization. The vast majority of the people of Asia have a deep religious experience which we must learn to know and appreciate. The evangelization of Asia is primarily a dialogue of life with all believers, the experience of which already brings them closer to God, who is the origin of all things.
Our deepest conviction is that the Gospel can bring something profound and vital to the men and women of Asia: knowledge of God the Father, of his love from which all else proceeds, of the salvation he offers us in Jesus Christ. But for this, our religious experience must be equal to our doctrine, and our life of charity and that of our communities must be an authentic reflection of God's love. Mother Teresa of Calcutta showed us, in this way, a path of dialogue with Hinduism and with all Asia's believers.
