FOOTPRINTS

One night I dreamed I was walking

Along the beach with the Lord.

Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.

Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.

Other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed that

During the low periods of my life when I was

Suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,

I could see only one set of footprints,

So I said to the Lord, "You promised me,

Lord, that if I followed You,

You would walk with me always.

But I noticed that during the most trying periods

Of my life there have only been

One set of prints in the sand.

Why, When I have needed You most,

You have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,

"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints

Is when I carried you."

Moät ñeâm kia toâi mô thaáy toâi ñang ñi daïo

böôùc doïc theo bôø bieån cuøng vôùi Chuùa

vaø treân trôøi phaûn chieáu nhöõng hình aûnh cuoäc ñôøi toâi

Moãi hình aûnh toâi ñeàu chuù yù tôùi nhöõng daáu chaân treân caùt

Ñoâi luùc in roõ hai caëp daáu chaân

coù nhöõng luùc chæ coù moät caëp maø thoâi

Ñieàu naøy laøm khoù chòu vì toâi ñeå yù thaáy

trong nhöõng luùc cuoäc ñôøi toâi ñang xuoáng doác

bôûi nhöõng khoå ñau thaát voïng vaø lo laéng

Toâi nhìn thaáy chæ coù moät caëp daáu chaân

Bôûi vaäy toâi noùi vôùi Chuùa "Laïy Chuùa, Ngaøi ñaõ höùa vôùi con

raèng neáu con ñi theo Ngaøi

thì Ngaøi seõ ñi beân con luoân maõi

Nhöng con caûm thaáy trong nhöõng luùc khoù khaên nhaát

cuûa cuoäc ñôøi con, thì chæ coù

moät caëp daáu chaân in treân caùt maø thoâi.

Taïi sao trong nhöõng luùc con caàn Chuùa nhaát

Ngaøi laïi khoâng ôû ñaây vôùi con?"

Chuùa traû lôøi,

"Nhöõng luùc con nhìn thaáy chæ coù moät caëp daáu chaân

ñoù chính laø nhöõng luùc Ta ñang mang con treân vai."
