Jakarta (RVA News 18-07-2026) - Trong khi Giaùo hoäi Coâng giaùo taïi chaâu AÙ ñang chuaån bò cho Ñaïi hoäi Toaøn theå laàn thöù XII cuûa Lieân Hoäi ñoàng Giaùm muïc AÙ chaâu (FABC), Ñöùc Hoàng y Filipe Neri Ferraõo, Chuû tòch FABC vaø laø Toång Giaùm muïc Goa vaø Damaõo (mieàn taây AÁn Ñoä), ñaõ chia seû taàm nhìn cuûa ngaøi veà moät Giaùo hoäi mang tính hieäp haønh hôn, truyeàn giaùo hôn vaø ñoái thoaïi hôn.

Ñaïi hoäi seõ dieãn ra taïi Jakarta, Indonesia, töø ngaøy 20 ñeán ngaøy 26 thaùng Baûy naêm 2026, vôùi chuû ñeà: "Lôøi môøi goïi hoaùn caûi theo tinh thaàn hieäp haønh vaø söù maïng trôû thaønh nhöõng nhòp caàu vaø ngöôøi xaây döïng nhòp caàu taïi chaâu AÙ." Ñaïi Hoäi seõ quy tuï caùc giaùm muïc töø khaép chaâu luïc ñeå cuøng suy tö veà söù maïng cuûa Giaùo hoäi trong boái caûnh nhöõng bieán ñoåi nhanh choùng veà xaõ hoäi, vaên hoùa, kinh teá vaø toân giaùo taïi chaâu AÙ.

Trong cuoäc phoûng vaán daønh cho Ñaøi Chaân Lyù AÙ Chaâu-Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), Ñöùc Hoàng y Ferraõo chia seû veà yù nghóa cuûa Ñaïi hoäi, nhöõng kyø voïng cuûa ngaøi ñoái vôùi cuoäc gaëp gôõ naøy, cuõng nhö caùch Ñaïi hoäi coù theå ñònh hình söù maïng töông lai cuûa Giaùo hoäi taïi chaâu AÙ.

 

Chuû ñeà cuûa Ñaïi hoäi Toaøn theå FABC Laàn thöù XII coù yù nghóa nhö theá naøo?

Ñaïi hoäi Toaøn theå cuûa Lieân Hoäi ñoàng Giaùm muïc AÙ chaâu (FABC) ñöôïc toå chöùc boán naêm moät laàn, quy tuï caùc giaùm muïc khaép chaâu AÙ ñeå cuøng suy tö veà moät chuû ñeà ñaõ ñöôïc choïn vaø ñaùp laïi nhöõng thöïc taïi cuõng nhö thaùch ñoá khoâng ngöøng thay ñoåi cuûa khu vöïc.

Chuû ñeà naêm nay laø: "Lôøi môøi goïi hoaùn caûi theo tinh thaàn hieäp haønh vaø söù maïng trôû thaønh nhöõng nhòp caàu vaø ngöôøi xaây döïng nhòp caàu taïi chaâu AÙ." Caâu Kinh thaùnh chuû ñaïo ñöôïc trích töø Tin möøng theo thaùnh Gioan 1,50: "Anh seõ coøn ñöôïc thaáy nhöõng ñieàu lôùn lao hôn theá nöõa."

Tröôùc nhöõng bieán chuyeån nhanh choùng cuûa chaâu AÙ vaø theá giôùi, vôùi nhöõng thay ñoåi veà vaên hoùa, laøn soùng di cö, baát bình ñaúng kinh teá, khuûng hoaûng moâi tröôøng vaø söï ña daïng toân giaùo, Giaùo hoäi taïi chaâu AÙ ñöôïc môøi goïi trôû thaønh taùc nhaân thuùc ñaåy hoøa bình, hoøa hôïp vaø ñoái thoaïi.

Ñöôïc ñaët neàn taûng treân tinh thaàn hieäp haønh, Giaùo hoäi trôû thaønh khoâng gian gaëp gôõ vaø hoøa giaûi. Chuùng toâi mong muoán vöøa laø nhòp caàu, vöøa laø ngöôøi xaây döïng nhòp caàu, cuûng coá söï keát noái giöõa caùc daân toäc, neàn vaên hoùa, toân giaùo vaø quoác gia treân khaép chaâu AÙ cuõng nhö vôùi theá giôùi, ñoàng thôøi laøm chöùng cho nieàm hy voïng vaø söï hieäp nhaát.

 

Ñöùc Hoàng y kyø voïng gì nôi Ñaïi hoäi Toaøn theå laàn naøy?

Chuùng toâi seõ taäp trung vaøo 5 öu tieân:

- Thöù nhaát, chuùng toâi seõ caàu nguyeän vaø suy tö moät caùch nghieâm tuùc veà ñôøi soáng vaø söù maïng cuûa Giaùo hoäi taïi chaâu AÙ, veà söï ña daïng, söï phaùt trieån cuõng nhö nhöõng thaùch ñoá maø Giaùo hoäi ñang ñoái dieän.

- Thöù hai, thoâng qua vieäc cuøng nhau laéng nghe vaø ñoái thoaïi, chuùng toâi mong muoán phaân ñònh nhöõng öu tieân muïc vuï caáp thieát nhaát cuûa Giaùo hoäi taïi chaâu AÙ.

- Thöù ba, chuùng toâi höôùng ñeán vieäc cuûng coá söï hieäp nhaát, taêng cöôøng coäng taùc vaø trao ñoåi nhöõng hoàng aân giöõa caùc Hoäi ñoàng Giaùm muïc thaønh vieân thoâng qua vieäc ñaåy maïnh truyeàn thoâng, hoã trôï laãn nhau vaø thöïc hieän caùc saùng kieán chung.

- Thöù tö, nhaän thöùc ñöôïc söï phong phuù trong ña daïng toân giaùo vaø vaên hoùa cuûa chaâu AÙ, chuùng toâi seõ tìm kieám nhöõng caùch thöùc xaây döïng caùc nhòp caàu caûm thoâng, coå voõ hoøa bình vaø söï toân troïng laãn nhau, ñoàng thôøi laøm chöùng cho Tin möøng.

- Vaø thöù naêm, chuùng toâi seõ thaúng thaén ñoái dieän vôùi nhöõng vaán ñeà caáp baùch maø caû Giaùo hoäi vaø xaõ hoäi ñang gaëp phaûi, ñaùp laïi baèng söï nhaïy beùn muïc vuï, tieáng noùi ngoân söù vaø nhöõng haønh ñoäng cuï theå ñöôïc ñaët neàn taûng treân Tin möøng.

Duø mang theo nhöõng kyø voïng aáy, chuùng toâi vaãn hoaøn toaøn phoù thaùc cho söï höôùng daãn cuûa Chuùa Thaùnh Thaàn, Ñaáng luoân daãn daét vaø canh taân chuùng toâi, môû ra nhöõng con ñöôøng môùi cho haønh trình chung cuûa toaøn theå Giaùo hoäi.

Chuùng toâi cuõng döï ñònh coâng boá Vaên kieän Chung keát cuûa Ñaïi hoäi Toaøn theå Laàn thöù XII, nhö moät caåm nang thöïc haønh (vademecum) veà ñôøi soáng hieäp haønh trong boái caûnh chaâu AÙ.

 

Ñöùc Hoàng y hình dung Ñaïi hoäi seõ ñoùng goùp nhö theá naøo cho söù maïng vaø söï phaùt trieån töông lai cuûa Giaùo hoäi taïi chaâu AÙ?

Toâi tin raèng Ñaïi hoäi Toaøn theå seõ goùp phaàn vaøo söù maïng vaø söï phaùt trieån cuûa Giaùo hoäi taïi chaâu AÙ theo ba phöông dieän quan troïng.

Thöù nhaát, Ñaïi hoäi seõ laøm saâu saéc hôn tinh thaàn hieäp haønh giöõa caùc Giaùo hoäi taïi chaâu AÙ. Ñaïi hoäi cuûng coá moái daây hieäp nhaát vaø coäng taùc giöõa caùc Giaùo hoäi ñòa phöông, khuyeán khích moät caùch thöùc soáng Giaùo hoäi theo tinh thaàn hieäp haønh, ñöôïc ñaùnh daáu baèng vieäc laéng nghe, tham gia vaø cuøng nhau phaân ñònh giöõa caùc giaùm muïc, linh muïc, tu só vaø giaùo daân.

Thöù hai, Ñaïi hoäi seõ goùp phaàn canh taân coâng cuoäc loan baùo Tin möøng ñeå ñaùp laïi nhöõng thöïc taïi môùi ñang xuaát hieän. Ñaây laø cô hoäi ñeå suy tö veà nhöõng thay ñoåi trong boái caûnh xaõ hoäi, vaên hoùa vaø toân giaùo cuûa chaâu AÙ, giuùp Giaùo hoäi cuûng coá söù maïng truyeàn giaùo vôùi loøng nhieät thaønh môùi, söï saùng taïo vaø tính phuø hôïp vôùi thôøi ñaïi.

Thöù ba, Ñaïi hoäi seõ thuùc ñaåy ñoái thoaïi, coâng lyù vaø hoøa bình trong xaõ hoäi. Ñaïi hoäi khuyeán khích Giaùo hoäi daán thaân saâu roäng hôn vaøo ñoái thoaïi lieân toân, ñoàng thôøi trôû thaønh tieáng noùi maïnh meõ hôn cho hoøa bình, coâng lyù vaø phaåm giaù con ngöôøi, qua ñoù coáng hieán moät chöùng taù Kitoâ giaùo ñaùng tin caäy giöõa caùc xaõ hoäi ña daïng cuûa chaâu AÙ.

FABC President Outlines Vision for Asia's Church ahead of Plenary Assembly

As the Catholic Church in Asia prepares for the 12th Plenary Assembly of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences (FABC), Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferraõo, President of the FABC and Archbishop of Goa and Damaõo in western India, has shared his vision for a more synodal, missionary, and dialogical Church.

The assembly will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from July 20-26 under the theme, "The Call to Synodal Conversion and the Mission of Being Bridges and Bridge-Builders in Asia." It will bring together bishops from across the continent to reflect on the Church's mission amid Asia's rapidly changing social, cultural, economic, and religious realities.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), Cardinal Ferraõo discusses the significance of the assembly, his expectations for the gathering, and how it can shape the future mission of the Church in Asia.

 

What is the significance of the theme of the 12th FABC Plenary Assembly?

The Plenary Assembly of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences convenes once every four years, bringing together bishops from across Asia to reflect on a chosen theme and respond to the evolving realities and challenges of the region.

This year's theme is "The call to synodal conversion and the mission to be bridges and bridge-builders in Asia." The biblical focus is drawn from the Gospel of St. John, Chapter 1:50: "You will see greater things."

In light of the rapidly changing realities in Asia and the wider world, marked by cultural shifts, migration, economic inequality, environmental crisis, and religious diversity, the Church in Asia is called to foster peace, harmony, and dialogue.

Grounded in synodality, the Church becomes a space for encounter and reconciliation. We seek to be both a bridge and a bridge-builder, strengthening connections among peoples, cultures, religions, and nations across Asia and beyond while witnessing to hope and unity.

 

What are your expectations for this Plenary Assembly?

We will focus on five priorities.

First, we will prayerfully and critically reflect on the life and mission of the Church in Asia, its diversity, growth, and challenges.

Second, we aim to discern the most urgent pastoral priorities for the Church in Asia through shared listening and dialogue.

Third, we seek to deepen unity, collaboration, and the exchange of gifts among member episcopal conferences through stronger communication, mutual support, and shared initiatives.

Fourth, recognizing Asia's rich religious and cultural diversity, we will seek ways of building bridges of understanding, promoting peace and mutual respect, and witnessing to the Gospel.

Finally, we will engage honestly with the pressing issues facing both Church and society, responding with pastoral sensitivity, prophetic clarity, and practical action rooted in the Gospel.

While we hold these expectations, we entrust ourselves to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, who leads and renews us, opening new pathways for our common journey.

We also plan to produce a final document of the 12th Plenary Assembly that will serve as a practical vademecum on synodality in Asia.

 

How do you envision the Assembly contributing to the future mission and growth of the Church in Asia?

I believe the Plenary Assembly can contribute to the future mission and growth of the Church in Asia in three important ways.

First, by deepening synodality among the Churches of Asia. It fosters stronger bonds of unity and collaboration among the local Churches, encouraging a synodal way of being Church marked by listening, participation, and shared discernment among bishops, clergy, religious, and laity.

Second, by renewing evangelization in response to emerging realities. It provides a space to reflect on the changing social, cultural, and religious landscapes of Asia, helping the Church strengthen its evangelizing mission with renewed missionary zeal, creativity, and relevance.

Third, by promoting dialogue, justice, and peace in society. It encourages the Church to engage more deeply in interreligious dialogue and to be a stronger voice for peace, justice, and human dignity, offering a credible Christian witness in the diverse societies of Asia.
